BEAR VIEWING...FLOAT PLANE EXCURSION TO TRAITOR'S COVE

A wonderful location to view hungry black bears gorging themselves on their favorite meals, pink and coho salmon. Traitors Cove boast a tremendous salmon run and where there are salmon, black bears can certainly be found.

BEAR VIEWING...FLOAT PLANE EXCURSION TO TRAITOR'S COVE Your air excursion on board our DeHavilland Beaver Seaplane, will depart Ketchikan and will fly a northwesterly course over Southeast Alaska’s brilliant Pacific Ocean and over top of Revillagigedo Island. Whales, sea lions and porpoise are just a few examples that can often be spotted on the way to Traitor's Cove.

Upon your arrival at Traitor's Cove, your local guide will greet you and give you an explanation of the area and how to view bears without interrupting their daily routine. You will be driven by van to the observation platform and can often catch a glimpse of black bears along the way.

Tour includes a 20 minute flight each way from Ketchikan to and from Traitor's Cove and approximately 2 hours of bear viewing at the observation platform.

The trip was fantastic, I still have a grin on my face two weeks later, your pilots are the best, from a guy who has been flying more than 40 years. I look forward to my next visit to Alaska.

The bear viewing trip to Traitor's Cove was the best of all! That day all of the other tours canceled because of weather so there were many people wandering around town without an idea of what to do. Our tour was one of very few that went out. We went a little later than planned, but we went. After a short flight to Traitor's Cove we took a short drive to the best spot to see the bears and then a very short hike to the "bear blind". We saw our first bear immediately and our guide Darcy pointed out another bear right off the trail asleep in a tree. Before we had to leave we saw a total of 5 black bears. We watched them catch the salmon that were running and then gobble down their catch. The bear that was asleep finally woke up, watched us for awhile and then calmly climbed down the tree. Then he crossed the patch right behind us, went down to the river and caught himself a salmon for breakfast. We were able to get pictures of everything!
