Alaska is home to some of the world's most concentrated grizzly bear and black bear populations, not to mention a variety of other wildlife that is truly unimaginable. We can put you on top - literally - of a bear viewing experience that will last a lifetime.
Both grizzlies and blacks gorge themselves on spawning salmon in the many streams and rivers in the Tongass National Forest. We fly you to locations world-renowned for their bear-viewing opportunities, landing near observatories overlooking spectacular waterfalls and feeding bears.

The flight to Anan Creek is a memorable journey north from Ketchikan, over the deep blue waters of Behm Canal and the wild beauty of the Cleveland Peninsula. Upon landing, you will be met by a Forest Service Ranger who will brief you on what to expect on your hike to the viewing platform. The hike to the platform is about 20 minutes on a boardwalk and gravel/dirt trail. Another ranger will greet you when you arrive at the bear observatory, and here begins the reason for this trip! You will be overlooking one of the largest concentrations of grizzlies and blacks to be found anywhere in Alaska. A photo blind is available to help you capture unforgettable images. You will have 1.5 to 2 hours at the observatory, depending on your transit time on the trail and actual flight time to Anan.
In addition to bears, mink, marten, and wolf are regulars in the area, while seals are often spotted during the landing on Anan Bay in Bradfield Canal.
While your attention may be riveted to the hungry antics of the gathered bears, you'll also appreciate the countless bald eagles that wait from lofty perches for their turn at the leftovers.

| This is undoubtedly one of the best shore excursions that I have ever done. Our guide was wonderful. Seeing the bears was an extraordinary event. The whole excursion from start to finish was excellent. I would highly recommend this excursion. |

Overall the trip was very good! We saw bears (both brown and black) feeding on salmon, as well as hundreds of bald eagles and seals. The only problem was that the trip had to end! The vendor was excellent - very friendly, efficient; couldn't have been better. They were at the exact spot they were supposed to be at the right time. They even waited a few extra minutes for us when we were delayed by having to take a tender from the cruise ship ashore. I highly recommend this excursion to anyone who wants an up close and personal encounter with wild bears.
