Today, we will travel to the town of Nora, the oldest town in all of Sardinia, founded by the Phoenicians in the 8th century.
Nora is interesting both for its architecture and its geological layout. The ancient city, also known as "The Sunken City," slopes down to the sea. Admire the two Roman temples, four thermal buildings, many gorgeous mosaics, and even a small Roman theatre.
We'll explore the archaeological area with its Roman ruins built on a pre-existing Punic settlement.
Let us know if you'd like to incorporate a visit to the small museum Pula (five minute drive from Nora).
Nora was an important trading town in its time with two protected harbors, one on each side of the peninsula. Several different building styles can be seen in the excavated buildings.
