Grand Turk is small in size but big on friendliness.

Explore the enchanting downtown of Grand Turk. En route to town, you'll see the highlights of the island, including the Governor’s Office, the Premier's Office, the Salt Ponds, the many churches and the famous replica of the Friendship 7 Capsule. During the 1950s and '60s, there was a U.S.A.F. base and space tracking station located near the current cruise pier. Several astronauts, including John Glenn and Scott Carpenter, trained at the base and they were both brought to Grand Turk after splashing down in the Atlantic Ocean after their historic space missions in 1962. To commemorate the connection between the Mercury space program and Grand Turk, there is a replica of John Glenn's capsule Friendship 7 on display at the entrance to the airport.

You'll visit the Grand Turk National Museum for a stroll back in time and learn about the importance salt has played in the island's history and economy. Following your museum tour, you'll have some time to do a little shopping or sample one of the tasty local food offerings.

From here, it's off to the beach! We'll take you away from the crowds to the beautiful Governor's Beach where you find clear water, gentle breezes, and a beach chair and umbrella waiting for you. Read a book, take a nap, wiggle your toes in the sand, enjoy a beverage or snack. Or, if you're feeling energetic, purchase a tube ride or rent some snorkel gear for exploring the undersea life right from shore. You'll have 2 relaxing hours to spend as you please.
