ShoreTrips says...

We call this tour "Boston for Beginners" because it is a wonderful introduction to the history and culture of one of America's most famous cities. Whether it's been awhile since your last trip to Boston, or it's your first visit, this is the tour for you!

Trace the roots of independence in Boston. Explore the Freedom Trail and more than 240 years of history. Start at the Old State House where the Declaration of Independence was first read in Boston on July 18, 1776, and has been read every July 4th since then.

Continue past the Parker House--home of Boston Cream Pie, Parker House Rolls, and the place where John Kennedy proposed to Jackie. You'll visit the Old Granary Burying Ground, and pass Boston Common and the Public Garden, where you'll see the famous Swan Boats. The State House, with its magnificent gold dome and the Robert Gould Shaw Memorial are next on the itinerary. You'll go through Beacon Hill, one of the most exclusive residential areas of Boston, including Senator John Kerry's home.

Next, you're off to the North End where we'll see the Old North Church, famous for the hanging of the lanterns indicating the approach of the British and the ride of Paul Revere. Passing Mike’s Pastry Shop, famous for Italian pastry of all kinds and one of President Clinton's favorite stops, you'll proceed to Paul Revere’s House.

Your next stop will be Faneuil Hall (also known as Quincy Market), where you'll find an enticing variety of shops, pushcart vendors, cafes, and more. Local merchants and entrepreneurs are the marketplace’s key attractions, and shopping for one-of-a-kind gifts and specialty items here is always an adventure.

After your stop at Faneuil Hall, you'll see the USS Constitution. Nicknamed “Old Ironsides,” this is the world's oldest commissioned naval vessel that is still afloat. You'll also visit Bunker Hill before heading back to the cruise ship pier.

If time allows, you will drive through Boston's Back Bay, whose Commonwealth Street was inspired by the streets of Paris. Located in the heart of the city, this picturesque neighborhood boasts gorgeous mansions, Trinity Church, the Boston Public Library, and some of the city’s best shops and restaurants.
