ShoreTrips says...

Journey from the cruise ship pier in Le Havre to the pictureseque town of Etretat and then continue on to Rouen, the city of Joan of Arc.

Begin in Etretat, a village in northern France, considered one of the most famous art towns in the entire country. Famous paintings of its coastline have been done by everybody from Courbet to Delacroix to Monet and start with their love for its picturesque coastal cliffs. With the natural arches, pebble beach and small village feel it will become obvious why so many talented artists were drawn to this region.

Before his first visit it is clear Monet was drawn to this town based on what he had seen others produce:

"I reckon on doing a big canvas on the cliff of Etretat, although it’s terribly audacious of me to do that after Courbet who did it so well, but I’ll try to do it differently."

Next you are on to Rouen, the historical capital city of Normandy. Rouen was once one of the largest and most prosperous cities in medieval Europe, and is well known as the city where the English burned Joan of Arc, a national heroine of France and a saint of the Roman Catholic Church, in 1431. Soak up the history of this city and its great sights, such as the Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Gothic Church of Saint Maclou, the modern church of Saint Joan of Arc, and more.

Afterwards, you will be transferred back to Le Havre and your cruise ship.
