PIGEON ISLAND SNORKEL

PIGEON ISLAND SNORKEL
ShoreTrips says...
Whether you are a snorkeler or you wish to be, there is no finer location in the Caribbean than the Jacques Cousteau Underwater Reserve. The reserve emcompasses the Pigeon Islands, which is where we are going.
Leaving Pointe-à-Pitre with your driver, you will enjoy a 30 to 40-minute ride through the lush countryside. You will be crossing La Riviere Salee, the Salt River, which separates Basseterre from Grande-Terre. Your driver will not be a guide and will not be narrating but you hardly need that as the scenery says it all.
As you pass through the lush rainforest in the National Park, you will see part of the attraction to this area by nature lovers from all over. Upon your arrival at the coastline, you will find yourself at the marine reserve near the town of Bouillante. You have arrived at the Cousteau Reserve which encompasses the Pigeon Islands, made up of three tiny islets in the middle of the reserve. The abundance of wildlife in the area is thanks to the natural hot springs flowing into the waters, creating a warm haven for fish and marine life.
Board your glass bottom boat for a ride around Pigeon Island, along the underwater reef area recognized as one of the best in the world. Flippers and snorkels are at your disposal and you will be able to admire the underwater plants and wildlife. Surgeonfish, army sergeant, butterfly fish, everything is in abundant among the shining corals and the clear water.
We will return you to the pier after your snorkel.
