Your driver/guide will unfold the tale of St. Kitts from its early origin, beginning with the city’s charming capital Basseterre, with its many restored colonial buildings, thriving commercial center, and national landmarks.

Moving along to the outer road, your driver will fill you in on some of the island's history before turning uphill for a beautiful scenic view. You have arrived at historic Romney Manor, formerly owned by Sam Jefferson II, the great-great-great-grandfather of Thomas Jefferson. Romney Manor was originally the great house for a plantation that was once owned by the great-great-great-grandfather of Thomas Jefferson. Today the grounds have been transformed into lush, tranquil gardens. Also located here is Caribelle Batik, which is both a shop and a part of St. Kitts culture. Batik is created using an ancient Indonesian technique that uses wax to resist dye on parts of the fabric and then designs are applied using a canting tool or stamp. Caribelle Batik is famous for its unique designs that combine flourishing strokes and elements of nature. There will be artisans demonstrating the technique and creating products onsite while explaining the process. This is a must-see shopping stop and whatever you buy here will likely be the best and most unique of any souvenir you see on your vacation.

Traveling along the Atlantic coast, you'll see stretches of volcanic black beaches, the islands of St. Maarten and St. Barthelemy (on a clear day), verdant green rainforest mountain ranges, the cloud-capped peak of Mt. Liamuiga, and swaying sugar cane, which was the main industry of the island for 350 years. En route, you'll see ruins of old chimneys and windmills dotting the scenic landscape, which remain an important testament to St. Kitts' rich and volatile history.

Halfway around the island, we'll stop at Dieppe Bay to see the ebony volcanic cliffs of Black Rocks. There are restroom facilities at this stop and an opportunity to shop for local crafts. From here, you can also see the Dutch islands of St. Eustatius and Saba. Further on, see the luxurious coastal resort area of Frigate Bay, hear about Gibbons Hill and stop at the Timothy Hill Lookout for panoramic views of the South East Peninsula to witness the crashing waves of the tempestuous Atlantic Ocean meeting the tranquil, inviting waters of the Caribbean Sea below.
