Travel from the cruise ship pier into the lovely Sicilian countryside.
Visit Taormina, located high on a mountaintop overlooking the harbor. The town is known for its wonderful scenery as well as its position as one of Sicily's chicest resort towns. This is a gorgeous town with a romantic atmosphere and plenty of excellent restaurants, bars, shopping and plazas to relax and enjoy a cappuccino.
You will also want to visit the Teatro Greco, the most impressive monument of the city. Built in the 3rd-century BC, the Teatro is still used today for open-air concerts.
Next you are on to Savoca, the filming location for the Corleone scenes in Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather II! Visit the Bar Vitelli, where the character Michael asked the padrone for his daughter's hand in marriage, and enjoy one of their famous "granitas."
After that, if you're feeling brave, pay a visit to the catacomb that lies beneath the Convent of the Frati Minori Cappuccini!
If you haven't seen the Godfather II this tour will make it a priority when you return home.
