HIGHLIGHTS OF CESME WITH LUNCH

HIGHLIGHTS OF CESME WITH LUNCH
ShoreTrips says...
Cesme, meaning fountain in Turkish, derives from the many sources of water found in the area. It is one of Turkey's most beautiful stretches of beach.
You will immediately know you're in Cesme because of its beautiful clear blue seas with fields of aniseed, sesame, and artichokes dotted by fig and gum trees!
You will start to explore the city by visiting the Cesme Castle. The Ottoman Sultan Bayezid II built the castle in 1508. The castle bears all the characteristics of Ottoman architecture with its six towers and moats on three sides. The castle is guarded by a statue of Cezayirli Gazi Hasan Pasha, one of the naval commanders of the Battle of Cesme. Pasha is depicted caressing his famous pet lion and facing the Town Square.
After the Cesme Castle, we will continue and drive towards Alacati, one of the most charming villages in the Aegean region of Turkey. Alacati was occupied by both Greeks and Turkish inhabitants until 1920s and was known for its vineyards and wineries.
Famed for the authentic ambience reflected by its well preserved stone built houses of traditional architecture, Alacati owes a certain extent of its popularity to excellent cafes and restaurants as well as its inviting boutiques and antique shops.
Turkish cuisine is one of the healthiest diets of the world and today you will be given a delightful lunch at a local fish restaurant in Alacati.
In the afternoon, we will return to Cesme to enjoy free time hunting for bargains at the bazaar!
