ShoreTrips says...
Hvar is a jewel hidden by the time--and it proudly has the most sunny hours of all the islands in the Adriatic Sea.
Your walking tour of Hvar will open your eyes to all of the wonders of this ancient fairytale town. One of the sites you will visit on this history-rich tour is the famous Cathedral of St. Stephen. This spectacular church stands on the far end of the main town square called Pjaca. The present cathedral, built on the site of a 6th century Christian church, is the work of local masters and is a perfect blend of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture.
You will also visit Loggia with its seven arcades constructed in 1497 and see the slender bell tower finished in the middle of the 16th century.
Your tour continues past the ancient Arsenal, which once housed the war galley. Under the same roof is the oldest communal theater in Europe, built in 1612. Take the promenade through the old port and you will arrive in front of the Franciscan Monastery (1462). The Monastery was built in the 15th century as a retreat for sailors. The monastery's collection which is the oldest on the island consists of paintings, manuscripts, old coins, and incunabula.
Afterwards, enjoy leisure time on your own before walking back to your ship.
