WALKING TOUR OF MYKONOS TOWN

WALKING TOUR OF MYKONOS TOWN
Vendor claims they meet CDC Compliant Guidelines
Mykonos is well known for its white old town. But wandering through it will give you no insight into the history that this island has played into the past. Your guided walking tour will allow you a chance to converse with your English-speaking guide about life here as well as that past that formed it.
Utimately you will enjoy a pleasant stroll around the picturesque narrow streets of the main town, the so-called Chora, an essential part of one’s stay in Mykonos. Your guided tour will start from the pier and includes a visit to the Archaeological Museum and the Naval Museum of the Aegean.
The Archaeological Museum, built in 1900, houses a large collection of Cycladic ceramics from the Geometric period. The Naval Museum, located by the Three Wells, displays scale models of various rowing boats, sailing vessels and steam powered ships which from Prehistoric times until the present have traversed the Aegean. Next door to the Naval Museum is Lena’s House, a charmingly preserved, authentic 19th century Mykonian middle-class dwelling, which is completely furnished and equipped with antique furniture and household utensils. After your visit of the museums you will have the chance to taste special Mykonian almond pastries with your refreshment at a local pastry shop.
Thereafter, you will continue your tour to the famous traditional Mykonian windmills, which constitute one of the symbols of the island. During your tour you will also have the opportunity to watch some traditional “every day life scenes” such as an old Mykonian man selling fruits and vegetables with his donkey, the famous Mykonian pelican, and maybe a fisherman fixing his nets.
