ShoreTrips says...

This tour gives you an up-close look at the beautiful Norwegian capital city of Oslo, the way the locals see it -- using the subway, bus and a ferry boat to City Hall Pier.

For a view of several sides of Oslo you will not see on most tours, travel around the city with a private guide and ride several modes of public transportation.

We will take a short walk through the area and along the river that once supported all the factories with electric power. There is a lot of history still in the walls of the houses, that date mostly from the late 1800s, when they were part of Oslo's industrial revolution. The many new business in this interesting area have revived it.

From Nydalen we'll travel by bus, through the whole city, literally from one end to the other. We’ll pass through the working man’s quarters on the east side, past the railway station and the new Opera House, into the city center, where we’ll see Norway's Parliament building, the Grand Hotel, and Karl Johan Street. We’ll drive along the park of the Royal Palace, past the American Embassy and the Nobel Institute, and through Bygdøy Alle, famous for its chestnut trees, to Bygdøy peninsula.

This lovely waterfront recreation area south of the city, boasts the King’s summer residence and, located within a few blocks of each other, five museums offering a widely-varied view of Norway's past -- from farming and religion to shipbuilding and exploration. There, we'll visit the Viking Ship museum before returning to the city center via ferry.

Though the Viking Ship Museum is highly recommended, your group is free to visit any of the museums at Bygdøy. If you wish to visit several or all of the museums, you may choose to do so on your own and return independently by ferry to the City Hall Pier and a short walk to your ship. The Oslo Pass includes admission to all of the museums.

Oslo is the Scandinavian capital that enjoys the most sunshine in the summer months!
