ShoreTrips says...

The waterfront beckons and once you are on the water, you will understand the commercial and tourism draw of Iceland.

There are locations around the world that offer whale watching but few do it as well as our Reykjavik captain and crew and rarely year round. The selection of whale types outnumber the crew on board our whaler but that is our goal - to send you home with several sightings and photos to remind you of your vacation for years to come. Expect to see Minke and Humpback whales and perhaps some White Beaked Dolphins and Harbour Porpoises. The high peak season for whale watching is from April to October, but of course the ocean is always full of adventures. You can see lots of other aquatic species, all sorts of wildlife and at the same time enjoy the splendid scenery around the coast of Iceland in the warmth and safety of our comfortable whaler.

Our boat has an outdoor viewing platform and an indoor salon. The captain is happy to have you visit, a great experience for sailors of all kinds and particularly children. This excursion has a version that takes you further out along the coastline where the whales have a feeding area.

We start our trip from a beautiful harbor in the city center and sail out to Kollafjöður, where you can see the island in the bay. Videy Island is known for the Lennon/One Peacetower, Richard Scerra's 'Milestones' and other attractions, along with great bird life. Then we continue on to Faxaflói Bay, popular for whale and birdwatching, sea angling and also great fishing grounds. The mountain ring seen from the bay, among which Snaefellsjokull Glacier may be spotted on clear days, is particularly beautiful.
