PRIVATE: GRAND TOUR OF VENICE ON FOOT AND BY BOAT
PRIVATE: GRAND TOUR OF VENICE ON FOOT AND BY BOAT
ShoreTrips says...
This Grand Tour of Venice was the idea of our favorite guiding company in Venice. They felt that by designing an introductory tour with some extra elements they could take up to six people privately and enhance the experience without hurting the pocketbook. We highly recommend this option.
Your guide will be armed with the truth and tales of the city. These are not just licensed guides, but people who live in the city all year round, many of whom were born and raised here. Their insight into this mystical city will be really eye-opening for you--and the small size of your group will enhance the tour even more.
Start at the beginning with St. Mark's Square. It is the former center of Venetian politics and also the site of St. Mark's Basilica. There is no way you can visit this city without a stop here. Next you will come with us on a walk that few people experience. You will discover the urban life here, sort of a theatre of the living. You will see the development of the city by crossing over bridges, narrow alleyways, and both large and small squares. The relief of getting away from the crowds is enormous, and you will really feel what Venice is all about.
Then we will board a private launch to navigate the Grand Canal, another must. From the waterway, which is still the main thoroughfare here, your guide will point out the homes of the rich and famous, as well as those with stories and secrets. It is the most wonderful boat ride you will ever take.
We will take the boat up to the Northern Lagoon and visit the island of Murano, which has been a major center of glassblowing for 800 years. Monday- Friday you will see an actual production line at a glass factory. On the weekends, we will still be able to provide a demonstration at one of the factories. The return transfer from Murano is compliments of the glass factory and may be shared with others, but only a small group.
This whirlwind tour is especially enjoyable due to the fact that you will have no more than six people in your group.
