ShoreTrips says...

Welcome to La Ciudad de las Artes y Ciencias, or the City of Arts & Sciences, a brand new landmark of Valencia, well known for its futuristic white architecture designed by Santiago Calatrava.

This new landmark of the ciry is a state-of-the-art architectural and entertainment complex designed by renowned architect Santiago Calatrava. You will see why this man has become the new rising star in the world of architecture. Mr. Calatrava was born in Valencia and the city is quite proud of his accomplishments.

Walk along the Turia Gardens to observe the impressive North Facade of the Science Museum, which simulates a glazed waterfall over the dry riverbed. Then
walk to the Hemisferic, a building conceived as a large human eye where IMAX movies, planetarium and laser shows are shown.

Next is a visit to the Umbráculo, a palm-tree garden covered by a "pergola" made of iron.

From here you will walk to the Oceanographic, considered to be the largest and most important marine park in Europe, where you will enter and observe the sea fauna of the most important ecosystems of the planet: the Mediterranean Sea, Wetlands, Temperate Seas, Tropical Seas, Patagonia Islands, Artic, Antarctic and Oceans.

Finish with lunch at the Buffet restaurant of the Oceanographic. If time permits, a shopping stop can be included at the souvenir shops in the City of Arts and Sciences.
