PRIVATE: BEST OF OAHU SIGHTSEEING
ShoreTrips says...
With this private tour, your wish is your guide's command (time and weather permitting, of course). Choose the sites that most interest you or leave it in the very capable hands of your experienced local guide to provide a tour that hits the highlights and promises a few surprises along the way.
Leaving the city, you'll head east on the scenic Kalaniana' ole Highway. Don't miss the dazzling blue Hanauma Bay, with its reef visible from above and witness the force of nature as the surf is pushed through a lave tube at the Halona Blowhole.
For views of locals bodysurfing, Sandy Beach will not disappoint. And visit Makapu'u Point to admire the historic lighthouse, watch hang gliders and maybe even spot a whale or two (December - March).
As you make your way north, you'll pass the island of Mokolii, also known as "Chinaman's Hat", its conical shape reminiscent of Chinese peasant worker's hats.
A stop at the Byodo-in Temple is a must-do. Its beautiful architecture, wild peacocks, koi ponds and reflective pools provide a peaceful, contemplative atmosphere.
Soon you will arrive at Turtle Bay, the entrance to the legendary North Shore. Stop here to see the numerous Green Sea Turtles (Honu in Hawaiian) for which the bay is named.
Surfers and non-surfers alike have heard of the "Bonazi Pipeline", one of the most iconic surfing spots on the planet. This surfing mecca is visited by some of the world's best surfers, all drawn here by massive swells and the chance to catch the "perfect wave".
As wyou move from place to place, your knowledgeable guide will provide commentary and insight about each location as well as information about the life and culture of Oahu, both past and present.
