KEALAKEKUA BAY SNORKEL TRIP

KEALAKEKUA BAY SNORKEL TRIP
ShoreTrips says...
Some 225 years ago, Captain James Cook, with his flotilla of two ships--the “Resolution” and the “Discovery”--sailed into stunningly beautiful Kealakekua Bay. You, too, can discover this scenic Hawaiian undersea paradise with a much less dire resolution than what befell Cook. (He, unfortunately, met his demise here, and there’s a monument to prove it.)
On Hawaii’s Kona coast, about 30 minutes by boat from Kailua, Kealakekua Bay is designated a Marine Life Conservation District. This well-developed and colorful coral reef, one of Hawaii’s finest, is rife with fish life and slopes steeply from shore into the crystal clear, deep water. Visibility reaches depths of 100 feet here.
After your captain selects the best snorkeling site, your friendly crew offers snorkeling tips and helps you in and out of the warm, inviting, blue waters. You’ll learn names of your new fish acquaintances, perhaps meet a spinner dolphin or two, or swim with a Hawaiian green sea turtle.
In addition to a professional guide/crew and snorkeling equipment, your tour includes a delicious lunch of sandwiches, upcountry vegetables, tropical fruits, cheeses, pastries, muffins and famous Maui-style potato chips. White chocolate Macadamia nut cookies cap the return trip to the dock. Complimentary soft drinks and water are also available. Alcoholic beverages are available for purchase.
Be forewarned...Kealakekua Bay is said to be the home of Lono-i-ka-makahiki, the Hawaiian fertility god.
