It's hard to imagine Mexico City as a top tourist destination and center for culture. Years of crime have made a name for this city. However, in recent years the government has regained control from the cartels and the city is as safe and lively as any other major capital.

The city's vibrant culture is inspired by locals who struggle for an improved quality of life and turn to food, art, and other trade work to reach this goal. A cultural awakening is underway and many are discovering this city now safe for tourists, it's dangerous history in the past.

The historical center is perhaps the largest and most emblematic of Latin America, with its jewels architectural of the XVI, XVII and XVIII centuries and the Porfirian era. Perhaps the most recognizable building it only makes sense to begin at the Palace of Fine Arts. From here, we will explore the center by foot. The House of Tiles exemplifies Baroque style and you will see the bar where Frida Kahlo would often enjoy a drink.

Perhaps the least likely favorite stop is Pasteleria Ideal a local favorite bakery that houses floors and floors of cakes. Continuing on we will pass the National Palace, the office of the President of Mexico. Before you know it we'll have reached the Templo Mayor, an Aztec Temple right in the heart of the city. See the remains of one of the most important Aztec temples in the 14th century, in the then capital city of Tenochtitlan.
