ShoreTrips says...

I think today it is really important to try to understand our government in a moderate and meaningful way.

Today's political climate has made it even more important to understand how our government functions - if that is even possible! Luckily, you will have a local experienced guide who will be your educator in the world of political action. Sparing nothing, your guide will facilitate in sharing history and context so you can enjoy a lively interaction about the direction of the country and how the laws today take us there.

You begin in the heart of the city where you will learn about the background of the city's origins and how the government works. As you listen to your guide, you will be able to share your own thoughts and questions. Ultimately, the conversation often turns into a meaningful discussion as you exchange your experiences and your ideas in a thoughtful manner.

What is so cool is that you are receiving your 'briefing' in the heart of Washington DC's U.S. Capitol Building, arguably the most symbolically important and architecturally impressive building in the nation. It has housed the meeting chambers of the House of Representatives and the Senate for two centuries. The Capitol, finished in 1793, has been through many construction phases and even more policy changes!!

To help you understand the workings of the government, your guide will share many stories about U.S. politics while you overlook the Supreme Court and the Library of Congress. Talk while you walk along one of the more historic streets in the city, passing landmarks such as the Eastern Market, the Old Navy Hospital, and the Marine Core Barracks. The information you learn may secure your political leanings, or perhaps even change them! Learning about those who have made indelible marks on our past may be useful in understanding our future.

This experience ends in the oldest commercial district in the city, Barrack's Row. Whether you agree with your guide or not, you will also learn highlights of locations to eat, drink and socialize in our city of politics.

In the end, you will finish appropriately at a pub where you can choose to continue your talks over a beer or shake hands and agree to disagree! It doesn't matter, as long as everyone has been heard.
