JUNEAU MENDENHALL GLACIER FLOAT TRIP

JUNEAU MENDENHALL GLACIER FLOAT TRIP
ShoreTrips says...
Often referred to as the southeast's best known drive-up ice cube, the Mendenhall Glacier is Juneau's most impressive sight. It's a moving river of ice that pushes down from the huge Juneau ice field, and, as it recedes, it sends magnificent icebergs into Mendenhall Lake.
The Mendenhall float trip, which begins on Mendenhall Lake just below the renowned glacier, is an exciting, yet mild, whitewater adventure that can be enjoyed by visitors of all ages. From the lake, just prior to the down river journey, rafters will enjoy incredible views of the 12-mile-long Mendenhall Glacier, which rises 150 feet above the water. Nearby towering peaks and icebergs floating in the lake make for great photographs.
Your rafting experience begins at the tidal waters near the Juneau International Airport. You'll spend the majority of your trip relaxing and gazing at the spectacular mountains that loom over you at nearly 7,000 feet above the river. You'll encounter whitewater for a stretch of about a mile as you travel along. As you approach, the excitement of a true Alaskan experience comes to life.
You might get a little wet, but rain gear, life jacket (you won't need it!), and boots are supplied.
