THE SKAGWAY SCENIC FLOAT TRIP

THE SKAGWAY SCENIC FLOAT TRIP
ShoreTrips says...
Often our meetings take place around mealtime, and eating is something that we try not to miss. So our guide picked the place and we dined early at a spot only residents would know. It was empty when we arrived, but packed by the time we left.
We left full of both food and information. We felt great, as we had another wonderful, responsive guide under our belts (which were a notch bigger than when we arrived!).
This activity is another example of how the actual raft trip is just one part of a terrific introduction to Alaskan wilderness and history. The location of your entry into the Taiya River allows you to enjoy a beautiful ride along the coast to Dyea valley. It's an old gold rush settlement steeped in history. Your narrated ride will be interesting AND scenic, and you might spot some eagles, as well as other critters, while you listen and observe. We don't make any promises, but seals are often seen along with the occasional bear sighting.
The float trip begins after you suit up in a life jacket, rubber boots, and rain gear (if necessary). The trip is comfortable and requires no experience or skill. Your discussion while floating down the lazy river will focus on the natural beauty surrounding you. The time on the river is approximately 45 minutes. As your group will be small, you'll be able to hear, as well as see, Alaska's beauty.
In the spring, you will enjoy the proliferation of wild flowers and, in the fall, expect to see an occasional bear hunting for salmon.
