ShoreTrips says...

Begin at Tigre Delta--one of the most attractive areas in the region with its rivers, streams, and numerous green islands--and then move on to the vibrant city of Buenos Aires, the center of political, economic, and intellectual life of the country.

On the way to the Tigre Delta, you'll pass through the most residential quarters in the suburbs of the Capital Federal. Visit San Isidro, one of the few remaining sites where old style and romanticism are still alive; stroll around a quaint park; or visit the impressive cathedral.

A favorite pastime is a leisurely trip on a comfortable boat along the water passage ways. Enjoy your ride as you take in the surroundings and the beautiful scenery. On Saturdays, a visit to the colorful market, with a variety of fruits, vegetables, and wicker-wares is also a must.

Next, it's on to Buenos Aires, where you'll get to know the town where the tango was born. Begin on Avenida de Mayo and the Plaza de Mayo, surrounded by the Casa Rosada (government house), the Metropolitan Cathedral, and the Cabildo, the first city hall, which was built during Spanish rule. At the other end of Avenida de Mayo, you'll find the Congress building, and then continue on to San Telmo, the best kept historical neighborhood and eldest district of Buenos Aires (no stop). At this point, you'll most likely want to grab a quick bite to eat.

Your next stop is La Boca, a most colorful area. At the famous Caminito Street, you'll find painters offering their tango pictures. Pass Colon Theatre, one of the world's best known opera houses and the cultural pride of the "porteños" (as the inhabitants of Buenos Aires are commonly called), and continue to Palermo with its beautiful parks, the City Zoo, Botanical Garden, Argentine Horsetrack, and National Polo Fields.

Your final stop will be the Recoleta area, one of the city's most glamorous spots. In the cemetery of Recoleta--the center of this aristocratic district--is the grave of Eva Duarte, who became famous as Eva Perón (Evita). You'll also find the Municipal Cultural Center, elegant boutiques, and excellent restaurants surrounded by centennial trees.
