PRIVATE COLLECTIONS: THE AMANO AND POLI MUSEUMS

PRIVATE COLLECTIONS: THE AMANO AND POLI MUSEUMS
Your tour begins with a visit to the Amano Museum, home to the private collection of Mr. Yoshitaro Amano, the namesake of the museum. The Amano is noted for its collection of pre-Hispanic textiles, a small collection of ceramics, and select examples of other cultures such as Kotosh, Chavin, Cupisniquie, and Chancay. Explore the notable and unique collection of textiles of the pre-Hispanic Peruvian cultures, mainly from the Chancay Valley (13th to 15th century), that shows the exceptional talent of ancient Peruvians in this labor. The high quality of their craftsmanship is evident, a result of their rich imagination and advanced technique.
Next, it's on to the Poli Museum, where Mr. Enrico Poli himself will guide you through an extraordinary and controversial private collection of pre-Columbian and colonial pieces. The museum features an exquisite small collection of pre-Columbian art in gold and silver, as well as colonial art. Mr. Poli has dedicated most of his adult life to collecting archaeological objects from all over Peru, and thus has one of the most exquisite private collections in the country.
