Chacchoben Ruins have been a staple attraction for Costa Maya and Mahajual. In the midst of a jungle lay the ruins, which originated between 500-700 A.D. Your Mayan guide will direct you through a wonderful path lined with indigenous plants and wildlife and will explain the different medicinal uses for many of the plants along the way.
The ceremonial center of the ruins brings you to the heart of the Mayan culture.

The name, Chacchoben, which translates to 'The Place of Red Corn', was discovered very recently and open to the public since 2003. During the 40s, a gentleman and his family settled here to farm. It wasn't until 1972 that they realized there was an amazing city under their backyard. It was then documented by the Mexican government but no excavation was done until 1994. The excavation and restoration was conducted by the National Institute of Anthropology and History and continues today. You will see and learn so much about the Mayan people and directly from their offspring!

After your incredible narrated tour of Chacchoben, you will arrive at a secluded resort where the food is famous! This property is outside of the town of Mahajual, much quieter, lovely spot. Here you will spend the remainder of your time relaxing, with a view of the tropical blue Caribbean Sea. Find your spot on the beach, whether you choose a beach chair or a sandy section under the shade of a palm. You will find bar service on the beach as well as food service while you relax. Lunch is creative local Mexican dishes, well-prepared, and you can select from a variety of choices.
