Welcome to Dunedin, New Zealand's very own version of Edinburgh, Scottland.  The architecture reflects the Scottish influence, particularly in "The Octagon", the 8-sided plaza which dominates the downtown.  See Baldwin Street, known as the steepest street in the world.  The celebrated Historic Dunedin Railway Station is stunning, filled with fine craftsmanship and detail and is considered the city's most impressive edifice.  The Larnach Castle is a destination unto itself. Imported materials dazzle throughout the castle and a climb to the very top will afford stunning views of the castle's world class gardens and surrounding area.  A ride on the Taieri Gorge Railway across the landscape of central Otago is not to be missed.

While the city itself is wonderful, the outlying areas of Dunedin are equally interesting and beautiful.  The rugged bays and beaches of the area afford you the chance to relax and wiggle your toes in the sand.  And a visit to the Yellow-Eyed Penguin Reserve will be unforgettable.   Whatever part of Dunedin you explore, you won't be disappointed!
