ShoreTrips says...

With more than 170 islands in the archipelago of Tonga, it's not surprising some of them are remote and uninhabited. We've chosen 2 idyllic locations for your exploration and relaxation.

Paddle the day away in paradise. After being picked up at the cruise ship pier, take in the scenery of Tongatapu (Tonga's largest island) during the 45-minute ride to the starting point of your tour, Talafoou Beach at the eastern tip the island.

These crystal clear, turquoise waters are perfect for kayaking. Since this tour is for strong paddlers, we know you're familiar with the mechanics of kayaking, but your friendly, experienced Tongan guide will provide a safety briefing before leading the way into the ocean.

Soon the rhythmic paddling will become second nature as you glide through sparkling waters, keeping watch for pods of spinner dolphins, sea turtles and in season, quite often, whales.

First, you'll paddle to Makaha'a Island, a blissful spot for relaxing, sunning, swimming or snorkeling. After about 25 minutes, climb back into your kayak for the trip to Pangaimotu. Pull your kayak up on the beach and let the explorer in you take over. There are beaches to comb for treasures from the sea. Or snorkel to shipwrecks resting here as a result of 2018's Cyclone Gita and discover the marine life which has taken up residence in these ghosts of the sea. Or even circumnavigate the entire island, a walk which will take about 25 minutes.

A delicious, fresh lunch with a beverage will be served at this idyllic location.

After about an hour and 45 minutes of island life, it's back in your kayak for the return paddle to the main island, where you'll board your vehicle for the transfer back to the cruise ship pier.

Spend your time in Tonga doing something you love.
