ShoreTrips says...
Don't feel shortchanged if you don't have the time or inclination to take the long ride into Beijing. This 'small' city of 7 million people will offer plenty of experience and insight into life in China.
Make sure to find time to explore one of China's largest coastal cities, Tianjin: "port for the emperor." Considered the birthplace of art in northern China, Tianjin is striving to become a modern international port metropolis while holding on to its unique past.
The Ancient Culture Street is a hotbed for classic Chinese architecture, crafts, and snacks that will capture all of your senses. Located on the west bank of the Haihe River you will have the opportunity to admire everything from Qing Dynasty folk style architecture to tasting local favorites like Goubuli Steamed Dumplings. At the center between the two entrances, you will find the Tianhou Palace which is one of the only three Mazu Temples in the world. Take a climb up to the top floor to get the best view of this charismatic street.
The guide will save the most unique stop for last with the China House Museum. In September of 2002 Porcelain collector, Zhang Lianzhi purchased this former bank and refurnished it with hundreds and thousands of historic porcelain pieces. This is something you have to see to believe!
