ShoreTrips says...

This is the only tour on the island that exclusively uses Tonga skippers and guides and also recruits local talent for all of the behind-the-scenes work.

Each year, from July - October, whales migrate from Antarctica to the island nation of Tonga where they find ample feeding and breeding grounds. Known as the Tongan Tribe, people travel from all corners of the globe for their chance to get up close and personal with these magnificent mammals!

Tonga was once a whaling nation, known for whale hunting until it was outlawed by the King of Tonga in 1979. After losing it's most lucrative industry, the government worked closely with whale organizations to train local operators on how to practice sustainable tourism. Permits are issued to a limited number of operators and the tourist board closely monitors their practices to ensure a low impact on the Tonga Tribe.

Lunch at a nearby island is included, although whale interactions will take precedence.

Each interaction is different and unpredictable, though sure to leave a lasting impression!

You can look, but you can't touch!
