INDIAN RIVER BOAT TRIP AND CABRITS NATIONAL PARK

INDIAN RIVER BOAT TRIP AND CABRITS NATIONAL PARK
ShoreTrips says...
Our message for Dominica: visit now. The island is beautiful beyond description. It overflows with natural attractions and is home to some of the friendliest people in the Caribbean. These qualities won't be a secret for long. Plans are in the works for expansion to attract the tourist industry and some things are bound to change.
Your tour begins as your guide drives you along the West Coast to the island's second-largest city, Portsmouth. From here, you'll board a rowboat and embark on a memorable ride up the famous Indian River. A rowboat is the perfect means of transportation on this serene waterway, and will ensure that the most peaceful atmosphere is present during your magical journey.
The lush vegetation along the banks will follow you as you wind your way along the lazy path of the river. The mangrove-fringed river is resplendent with various forms of wildlife, including herons, kingfishers, and the occasional iguana. At the end of the river, there is a bush bar where you may stop for a quick drink, if you wish.
After your boat ride, you'll visit Cabrits National Park. Here, you'll find an 18th century Garrison that was abandoned as a military post in 1854 and, as a result, taken over by the forces of nature. Recent restoration has greatly improved the appearance of the Park, and new hiking trails have been opened as well.
This highly recommended tour offers a close-up look at a fascinating ecological zone inhabited by various freshwater creatures and hundreds of birds.
