The Acropolis is the one historical site you can't miss.

Departing from the port of Piraeus, and following a 75-minute drive, you'll reach the ancient town of Corinth, where Saint Paul lived and preached for two years. In ancient times, Corinth was amongst the richest cities and this is quite evident by its remains, including the huge Agora (marketplace) and Apollo's Temple, constructed in the 6th century BC.

The systematic excavation of the area, initiated by the American School of Classical Studies in 1896, is still continuing today and has brought to light the agora, temples, fountains, shops, porticoes, baths, and various other monuments.

Your next stop is the famous Corinth Canal. The Canal is four miles long, 70 feet wide, 26 feet deep, and has sloping sides, which reach 170 feet. Its construction commenced in 1881, although the idea of connecting the Ionian and Aegean seas in order to provide a short cut seems to date back to at least Roman times.

Following a photo stop at the canal, you'll board your coach for a drive back to the center of Athens, where you'll enjoy a three-course meal at a local restaurant.

After lunch, you'll re-board your coach, passing by numerous points of interest such as Constitution Square, the Memorial to the Unkown Soldier, the Greek Parliament, Hadrian’s Gate, and the Olympic Stadium, before arriving at the Acropolis. On the sacred rock of the Acropolis, the monuments date from the prehistoric period to the end of antiquity. Accompanied by your knowledgeable guide, you'll walk up the uneven footpath leading to the summit. Sights include the Propylaea, the Temple of Apteros Niki, the Erectheum, and the architectural triumph of the Parthenon.

After visiting the Acropolis, you'll re-board your coach once again for a return trip to the ship.
