Barry and I always wanted a boat trip down this river. When we visited, we walked along the riverbank, past a bull (yes, a real bull) to find the monkeys! If you don't believe me, I have photos to prove it.

Join us for this perfect guided tour of Belize City. As you ride through the city, your guide will connect you with Belize's rich history and the impact of ancient Mayan civilization on its more modern developments. The city is divided into 2 parts. The North Belize is more oriented towards tourists as it is the location of the top hotels, a casino, and the Museum of Belize. It is also the area of the cruise ship and marine terminals so it is the area that you see upon your arrival by ship. The southside of Belize has the character. It is a conglomeration of ethnic commerce, every culture represented in the stores, restaurants, and services that you will find here. There are some historic attractions, such as St. John's Cathedral and the House of Culture. Most fun is the swing bridge and if you are fortunate, you will see it swing out of the way to allow boats to pass. Unusual and interesting to see.

The drive to the river is also part of the charm of this country. The roads are constantly under construction and that is a good thing, as some were pretty rough rides. Upon your arrival at the mouth of the Belize River, you will board a local river boat and take a leisurely cruise down the river.

Not only is Belize a great destination for tourists traveling to Central America, but Belize is also home to some of the most unique species of wildlife worldwide. Here, you will be witness to hundreds of different species, most notably birds and monkeys. Keep an eye out for manatees, crocodiles, iguanas, and our favorite, black howler monkeys though you can usually hear them way before you spot them. They are called howlers for a reason!

You're guaranteed to get up close and personal with the wildlife surrounding you, so be prepared for an intimate experience. You'll also gain a new perspective of the Belize countryside, with glimpses of locals' homes.

Belize is a bird lover's paradise! This program provides a window to the full spectrum of wildlife that is unique to Belize!
