THE SIGHTS OF LIMA & POLI COLLECTION

THE SIGHTS OF LIMA & POLI COLLECTION
Your tour begins in the Plaza Mayor, the exact location where Francisco Pizarro founded Lima! View the Government Palace, City Hall, the Archbishop's Palace, and the Cathedral--the main church and one of the main symbols of the city. Construction on the Cathedral began the same year the city was founded, 1535. Its cold and rather gloomy interior bears witness to the building's trials and tribulations. Spend some time visiting the Cathedral before proceeding to the Monastery of San Francisco, built in the 17th century.
Next, drive through the upscale residential district of San Isidro and stop at the Parque del Amor for a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean and its beaches. By now you will be ready to stop for lunch in a local restaurant.
After lunch, continue on to the residential district of Miraflores to view Enrico Poli's private art collection. Spend about an hour exploring this extraordinary gathering of Pre-Columbian and Colonial art objects, one of the best private collections of its kind in the world.
